The value-focused variety

1509 Basmati Rice

1509 is an early-maturing basmati hybrid that has become one of the fastest-growing export varieties, offering a genuinely aromatic basmati at a more accessible price than 1121.

Why buyers choose 1509

1509 matures faster in the field than 1121, which generally keeps farmgate and mill pricing more competitive. For buyers, that translates into a rice with a shorter grain than 1121 but still clearly recognisable as basmati in aroma and cooking character — a practical choice for price-sensitive retail tiers, foodservice programmes with tighter margins, and markets where 1121-level premium pricing isn't sustainable at volume.

Common export markets

1509 has grown rapidly across value-tier retail programmes in Europe, the UK and North America, and among foodservice buyers who need a genuine basmati at a price closer to non-basmati long grain. It's also a common entry point for new importers building out a basmati range for the first time.

Pricing and MOQ

As with our full range, FOB pricing moves with the crop and is quoted per enquiry rather than published, to keep it accurate. Tell us your pack size, processing and destination port for a current offer.

Also consider If your buyers expect the longest possible grain and a premium shelf position, 1121 Basmati is the stronger fit despite the higher price point.
